La Leche League GB and the Leaders (volunteer breastfeeding counsellors) of LLL Sussex welcome all parents and families who may benefit from the available information and support so they could nurture their children through breastfeeding and breastmilk feeding for as long as they choose to do so. We wish to be inclusive and make everyone feel welcome, regardless of race, faith, sexual orientation, sexual identity, language, marital status, neurodiversity or disability. If you want to feed your milk to your child and you feel hesitant to contact traditional support venues please contact one of us and we will do our best to help you.
What is La Leche League?
La Leche League (pronounced LA LE CHAY - 'the milk' in Spanish) is an international charitable organisation founded to give information and encouragement, mainly through mother-to-mother support, to all women who want to breastfeed their babies.
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother. If you are a mother or are going to become a mother who wants to breastfeed, whatever situation you find yourself in, we are prepared to support you. We provide research-based information and guidance as well as a warm and caring listening ear.
LLL Leaders
LLL Leaders are mothers themselves who have been internationally accredited to give mother-to-mother breastfeeding support and information. They have breastfed their own children and will listen to your questions, offering practical suggestions and warm support. Our Leaders run Monthly LLL meetings, support mothers one-to-one on the phone, by email or in person. They have the most up-to-date breastfeeding information available and can pass on the wealth of experience of other breastfeeding mothers, to help you find answers and make the decisions that are right for you and your baby.
